Day 1: Arrival in Juneau – Mendenhall Glacier and Juneau Exploration
Upon arrival in Juneau, Alaska’s coastal capital, your guide will meet you and transfer you to your hotel. We will explore the Mendenhall Valley and view the famous Mendenhall Glacier. Walk forest trails, visit Nugget Falls, or explore the glacier visitor center. The evening is free to enjoy Juneau’s historic downtown, restaurants, and waterfront.

Day 2: Juneau to Haines – Whale Watching and Lynn Canal Catamaran
Today begins with a whale watching excursion in the rich marine waters surrounding Juneau. Humpback whales, sea lions, porpoises, and bald eagles are commonly seen. In the afternoon we board a high-speed catamaran and travel up the Lynn Canal to Haines, one of the longest and deepest fjords in North America. Along the way we pass waterfalls, coastal mountains, and marine wildlife.

Day 3: Haines – Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve Float and Klukwan Cultural Visit
We begin the day with a visit to Klukwan, the ancestral home of the Chilkat Tlingit people. Here we learn about local culture and history at the heritage center. Later we float the Chilkat River through the Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve. This gentle rafting trip offers incredible wildlife viewing with opportunities to see bald eagles, bears, salmon, and dramatic glaciated peaks.

Day 4: Haines – Chilkoot Lake Canoe and Alpine Tundra Exploration
Today we explore the Chilkoot River Valley and Chilkoot Lake, one of the most wildlife-rich areas in Southeast Alaska. We travel by canoe through quiet coves and salmon streams surrounded by towering mountains. Later we drive toward Haines Pass into British Columbia to explore alpine tundra landscapes above treeline, where glaciers, wildflowers, and expansive mountain views dominate the landscape.

Day 5: Haines to Gustavus – Scenic Flight and Glacier Bay National Park
After breakfast we travel by scenic bush plane flight across the glaciers and mountains of Southeast Alaska to Gustavus, the gateway to Glacier Bay National Park. Upon arrival we explore Bartlett Cove and the Glacier Bay visitor area before boarding a boat excursion into Glacier Bay. Towering tidewater glaciers, whales, sea lions, puffins, bears, and countless seabirds are frequently seen in this spectacular marine wilderness.

Optional Day: Gustavus – Sea Kayaking with Whales at Point Adolphus
For guests wishing to extend the experience, an optional sea kayaking trip is available to Point Adolphus, one of the best whale-watching locations in Southeast Alaska. Paddle along the coastline among sea otters, porpoises, seals, and feeding humpback whales while exploring the protected waters near Glacier Bay.
